I Always Thought It Would Be Cool to Live on an Island…

December 13, 2009

Clearly, I have fallen behind on my blogging. It’s been months since my last post, and I never even finished my Peninsula recap. I’m not really big into New Year’s Resolutions, but I’ve already put my personal blogging on my to-do list for the upcoming year.

Anyway, on day two of our Peninsula trip, Jason and I decided to take the ferry over to Washington Island. Neither of us had ever been there and, honestly, we didn’t really know what to expect. We left the car behind and headed out with our bikes. We were slightly concerned about the crummy weather as we left, but it cleared up nicely.

Jason and quickly realized that there’s not a lot to Washington Island. We were expecting shops and restaurants, a quiant little island world. In reality, there were a lot of farms, few shops, and many closed restaurants. We biked about 10 miles for the day, which neither of us was really prepared for. It was rather relaxing, though.

While I don’t think I could handle living on an island after seeing life on Washington Island, it wasn’t a horrible place to visit.
