The High Sierra Camps lottery that is. I just received the email today informing me that Jason and I were selected for the High Sierra Camps this upcoming summer! Come late July 2011, we will be back in Yosemite National Park enjoying one of the most special places on earth.
View of the high country from Glacier Point.

Jason and I have chosen to do a 5-day Guided High Sierra Camp Hike. We will spend buffer nights at the beginning and end of our trip at Tuolumne Meadows Lodge. We will visit three of the five High Sierra Camps: Vogelsang, Merced Lake, and Sunrise. It’s a 7 to 10-mile hike between each camp, and while guided, we can go at our own pace and meet up with our guide and fellow hikers at trail junctions and other notable spots.
We’ll be staying in the same tent cabins we stayed in last summer, but we will likely be sharing the space with other campers (the one downside).
The cabin experience will be slightly more rustic than the one we had in Curry Village, however. The tent cabins at all of the camps we’ll stay at – including Tuolumne Meadows – are electricity-free. We will be living by candle light. We will also be going showerless at Vogelsang Camp – that should be fun…
Jason and I are super excited to return to Yosemite and to really experience the amazing high country. And I am excited to follow through on the challenge I set for myself after that first trip – I’m going backpacking, baby! First class backpacking

Thanks Ingunn! I am really excited about this trip! I’ve been dreaming about it since I got home from Yosemite this last summer
