Moving Past Failure

Rough Life

Well, this week I did not make progress on my weight loss goal. Unfortunately, just the opposite happened :-(

I gained two pounds since last Sunday, and I am pretty bummed, to say the least. I know there are likely a few factors at play, but I know that I’ve been cheating myself. There are a couple of things I need to work on, and fortunately or unfortunately, they are two major components in my weight loss journey.

  • Balanced Calorie Intake: On my SparkPeople program, I am supposed to keep to 1240-1590 calories a day. I only fell within that range one day last week. And most days, I was well over 500 calories above the top of that range. Not good.
  • Exercise: I have been exercising five to six days a week, which is good. However, I haven’t really been pushing myself during my workout sessions. I’ve been taking things too easy, and it’s not helping.

I am not willing to haul my overweight rear through the Sierra Nevada this summer. I want to enjoy my trip, and being overweight is going to make that very hard to do. I will not let myself down.

So, let’s take this a week at a time. This week, I have two goals, both of which fit within my Fast Break goals.

  • Stay within my 1240-1590 calorie intake range EVERY DAY this week.
  • Push myself during each of my workouts this week.

Enough dwelling on this week’s failure. I will move forward into a new week, a week of success. Stay tuned…
