How Many John Muir Trails Are There In the World?

April 9, 2011

Hooray for amazing weather…finally! Jason and I took full advantage of the incredible weather this afternoon and headed out for our first hike of 2011  :-D

Our adventure started with purchasing our 2011 vehicle admission sticker for the Wisconsin state parks and recreation areas. We arrived at the Kettle Moraine South state forest headquarters just in time to catch an awkward debate between the state employee and a visitor about gun use on state lands. I agreed with both sides, and definitely didn’t blame the concerned visitor for his discomfort in hearing gun shots in the distance.

With our sticker in place, we drove to the John Muir Bike & Hiking Trail. We selected the White Loop – just the right distance for our first time back out.

After an excellent hike, we headed home to partake in my very favorite warm-weather activity: grilling out! Jason threw a couple of steaks on the grill while I uploaded photos from the hike and enjoyed an Island Wheat Ale.

The wheat used for this beer is grown on Washington Island. We rode our bikes right by the fields on our second annual Door County camping trip.

Overall, it was a perfect spring day!

Question:

What outdoor activities are you enjoying now that spring is here?
