Time to Break Out the Bike

Jason and I still have our bikes in storage at my mom’s house, and it’s finally time to break them out of storage for the season.

I bought my bike last summer and I love it!

I’m contemplating whether or not I want to buy a basket or paniers for my bike. I don’t have a need to carry a lot of stuff, but I’d like the option to carry some things. Whatever I decide, it will be guided by how it will look. Here are some options I’m looking at:

On the Road Again

I hadn’t ridden a bike in almost 15 years. The last time I rode one, it was my lilac Schwinn 12-speed. (Or was it a 10-speed? I have no idea.) It was a pretty sweet bike. I gave up riding it when I couldn’t go more than a few feet without the chain falling off. Of course, I soon learned to drive a car and no longer felt the need for a bike.

I started to want to bike again after a camping trip to Peninsula State Park in Door County last fall. Biking is huge in that area, and I wanted to be able to do some riding on our second annual trip this coming September (yes, I loved the camping experience in Door County so much that I’ve officially made it an annual trip for my family). Luckily, biking also happens to be a big thing in the Whitewater area – not so much among people from Whitewater, but among people traveling from elsewhere to bike in the Kettle Moraine area just outside of town.

I wound up getting the Trek Navigator 2.0. I’ve had it in my possession for a week now, and I absolutely love it! The style of the bike is very retro and girly, not at all sporty. But that’s part of the reason why I love it. As my husband Jason put it, it’s very me. I’m still getting used to being on a bike again – 15 years is a long time. Thankfully it’s true – you never forget how to ride a bike!
