Slow Progress

Over the last couple of years, I have taken up scrapbooking. What started as a desire to create a unique guest book for our wedding turned into a full-blown hobby, thanks in part to taking up camping shortly thereafter. My second book was an album dedicated to chronicling all of our camping trips.

Being me, I wanted to bring some order to all of my scrapping possibilities. Thanks to The Mom Creative, I was introduced to Stacy Julian’s “Big Picture” concepts. I started a “Story of Us” album chronicling our family over the years (obviously, it’s not super long – yet 🙂 ). I have several other albums on the docket, including a book on the “People We Love,” a book about the “Things We Do” (hiking, running, etc.), a book all about T & B, and a book to chronicle our land/new home journey.

The book that I’m currently working on – and I mean that loosely – is our Yosemite album. I have been saying for the last three weekends that I’m going to work on it, but I somehow get derailed from that plan. I have plenty of time to work on it, but I need to stop filling that time with my reality TV hobby 😕 .

While the progress is slow, I am happy with the work I’ve done. Here’s a little look…

First page in the book on cool Yosemite paper.
Book: Yosemite 2010

Detail on my title page: “Thousands of tired, nerve-shaken, over-civilized people are beginning to find out that going to the mountains is going home; that wildness is a necessity…”

Our arrival in California.

Detail on the California page. We flew into San Francisco and drove to Yosemite. Love the cute stickers I could use.

I was a little obsessed with the bear lockers, so I got creative with the Cricut.

Only half of one of my three two-page waterfall spreads: Fern Spring.

More fun with stickers. I used clear “bubble” stickers to simulate water droplets.

Next up: Big Trees.

How do you commemorate your travels?

Project Life Tuesday: Week Six

Still going strong with my Project Life 2010. As far as my actual album goes, all of my January pictures have been placed in the album and all of my January journaling is finished. I hope to catch up on the first two weeks of journaling for February this week.

Feb. 8 - Lounging with my Thea. Even though the dogs aren't allowed on the furniture, sometimes Thea breaks us down.

Feb. 9 - Teeth brushing time! Bailey gets way too excited when the tootbrush comes out.

Feb. 10 - I wound up leaving work early because I felt sick. A whole sleeve of saltines was my salvation.

Feb. 11 - Yes, this is the time we went to bed. We were exhausted and I still wasn't feeling 100% better.

Feb. 12 - Valentine's Day came a little early. Jason got me the Packers bangles I wanted. He's so good!

Feb. 13 - The Valentine's gifts keep rolling in. My grandmas made us a batch of her famous sugar cookies. They are awesome - and now gone.

Feb. 14 - Happy Valentine's Day!

A Week Ago in My Project Life:

Project Life Tuesday: Week Five

I thought that I had done a really bad job taking pictures this week. Once I uploaded them to my computer, I realized that I had a photo for each day. Nothing too exciting. It was a busy week, so life at home was pretty relaxed.

February 1 - It was a grocery shopping week. To help save money and eat better, I do a lot of prep work for the trip.

February 2 - Jason is now obsessed with the show White Collar on USA. Tuesday nights, he's fixated on the TV.

February 3 - I got an iPhone this past fall. I love it!

February 4 - This is the real Thea. There are no words.

February 5 - Jason's work banquet was tonight. It was a "Night at the Races" where we bet on fake horse races.

February 6 - For Christmas, I adopted Jason a caribou. His stuffed caribou now resides in the living room.

February 7 - My mom gave me some brass pieces that my great-great aunt brought back from Pakistan back in the early 1900s. Just need to polish them up!
