As I have connected more with the outdoors, I have become more conscious of being kind to the earth. As a result, I’m trying to go “green” with more of my everyday routines and needs.
I haven’t quite finished my first “going green” task: switching the light bulbs in our house to CFLs. We’ve made steady progress, but we still have a few rooms to tackle.
However, the opportunity presented itself for me to move on to another task: switching to a more ecofriendly beauty routine. I was quickly running out of my face cleanser, so this was the perfect time to make a change.
This change was a difficult one. I have been using Bio-Elements products for about 7 years, and my skin has been virtually perfect since I started using their products.
Despite their name, they don’t rank well in terms of cosmetic safety. There are ingredients in the cleanser that are linked to allergies, organ system toxicity, irritation of the eyes, skin, and lungs, and other use restrictions. The cleanser is by no means the worst product on the planet, but I could do better.
After doing a little homework by consulting Sephora, Green Chic, and the Skin Deep Cosmetic Safety Database, I decided to give Juice Beauty a try. Juice Beauty ranks better in terms of cosmetic safety, provides comparable products to the Bio-Elements routine I already follow, and has received solid reviews from reputable sources.
I only started using the Cleansing Gel earlier this week, but I like it so far. I know I will soon be in need of moisturizer, so I’ll be looking at options in that area.
